Earth Action Initiative Art Exhibition
March 23, 2019
2–10pm

I’m happy to have a few pieces represent the oceans at the Earth Action Initiative Art Exhibition. This climate and environmentally themed art show at UC Berkeley is part of the Earth Action Initiative Conference, a community driven and collaborative approach to addressing the multidimensionality, intersectionalities, and complexities of climate change. You can register for this free event on Eventbrite.

The 2019 conference has two major components: workshops and a climate art experience.  Workshops cover a variety of topics ranging from nuclear energy to environmental justice, and all result in some direct action, while the climate art experience utilizes art and food to convey climate science in an intimate and tangible way. It is an opportunity to bring together groups that may not regularly interact, as well as a chance to reinvigorate and inspire climate action. The exhibition will raise funds for mini action grants, which will be awarded in the local community through a proposal process decided upon by the Earth Action Initiative Organizing Committee.

SEA is the second in a series of three group shows at The Drawing Room Annex addressing our relationship to the environment—LAND, SEA & SKY. This exhibition invited Bay Area artists to reflect on the theme of SEA and its connections to humanity, the climate crisis, and our personal or universal relationship to the waters covering the majority of our planet.

Bust of Man, Blindfolded is an auto-biographical piece that documents my own “chronic pain journey”—both literally and abstractly—while also addressing universal themes such as suffering, isolation, depression, mortality, and even our current climate crisis. I’m honored that Bust of Man, Blindfolded was included in three exhibits in 2022.
